la nostra storia
Dzam is a small Tibetan handicraft shop near Arcidosso, Tuscany, Italy.
Dzam was founded in 1995; everyone knows it as the Merigar store, the headquarters of Comunità Dzogchen. The early years serve practitioners and visitors by offering books, ritual objects, and supports for Buddhist practice according to the instructions of founder and master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu. Over time, Dzam expands and becomes a meeting and exchange point for all those interested in Tibetan culture, art, and crafts. The founders of Dzam, Giorgio and Anna travel continuously and meet Aritigians and both Tibetan and Nepalese artists of the Buddhist tradition and introduce them to visitors to Merigar as well. Jewelry, fabrics, clothes are on display in the shop.
In 2012, following the strong expansion of the Dzogchen Community in the world, Dzam also became an online store to be closer to friends at any time of the year. Today Dzam is run by Anna, who travels to Nepal every year and chooses one by one objects that best embody the beauty and craftsmanship of these traditional artisans and producers. He knows Sunil who works silk, Thamel the sculptor, Tserin the nice Tibetan who sells ritual objects and many others to whom he asks to create things for Dzam and for you.
In 2015, Dzam participated, together with ASIA and Communita’ Dzogchen, in fundraising for the victims of the earthquake in Nepal, and also offered a percentage of the proceeds to the families most in need. Dzam has also begun collaborating with Western artisans and artists some belonging to the Dzogchen Community and creates exclusive limited series of clothes and jewelry inspired by Tibetan culture and life in Merigar.
